IsoTool™ Used to Cut Out Long Seam Anomaly

Client request

A long seam defect was detected by an In-Line Inspection tool, and the client’s integrity program required that it be removed.

The best solution

Two 10” IsoTools were launched and tracked 27 miles, then parked on either side of the anomaly.

Plan and deliver

The downstream IsoTool was 30’ downstream of the cutout, and since the pipeline elevation was climbing, less than 5 bbls of drainup was required.

The IsoTools held 120psi of pressure for 5 hours and 20 minutes while the cutout occurred. The IsoTools were unset and pumped to the receive trap 33 miles away.
